In 2008, my father had a stroke. Physically there were no visible signs of any side effects
from the stroke, so I thought that Daddy would be back home and everything would be as
usual. My daddy lost consciousness about two days after the stroke, never waking up. I
remember my family deciding to take him off life support and watching the doctor say he was
gone. The morning after, I felt like I was dreaming and wanted to wake up. I could not believe
that he was gone. The man I had never known to be sick, the man of steel, was no longer with
us.
On that Monday morning, I remember asking God how I would get through this. I heard his
voice very softly say, “Worship.” Reader, can I tell you that “worship” got me through one of
the roughest and darkest moments of my life, and can I tell you that it was walking through the
valley of mourning that I understood and experienced the power of worship. I don’t know what
storm you may be facing, but I encourage you to Worship!
